Geometric shapes

square - Wiktionary

In geometry, a square is a regular quadrilateral, which means that it has four equal sides and four equal angles (90-degree angles, or (100-gradian angles or right angles). It can also be defined as a rectangle in which two adjacent sides have equal length.

Trapezoid | Math ∞ Blog

A trapezoid is a 4-sided flat shape with straight sides that has a pair of

opposite sides parallel (marked with arrows below): Trapezoid. Isosceles Trapezoid. A trapezoid: has a pair of parallel sides.\

Rectangle Picture - Images of Shapes

A rectangle is a 2D shape in geometry, having 4 sides and 4 corners. Its two sides meet at right angles. Thus, a rectangle has 4 angles, each measuring 90 ̊. The opposite sides of a rectangle have the same lengths and are parallel.

Area of a Parallelogram ( Read ) | Geometry | CK-12 Foundation

A parallelogram is a quadrilateral with opposite sides parallel (and therefore opposite angles equal). A quadrilateral with equal sides is called a rhombus, and a parallelogram whose angles are all right angles is called a rectangle.

A Rhombus is a flat shape with 4 equal straight sides. A rhombus looks like a diamond. All sides have equal length. Opposite sides are parallel, and opposite angles are equal (it is a Parallelogram). The altitude is the distance at right angles to two sides.

kite shape | English paper piecing quilts, Paper piecing patterns, Paper piecing quilts

In Euclidean geometry, a kite is a quadrilateral whose four sides can be grouped into two pairs of equal-length sides that are adjacent to each other. In contrast, a parallelogram also has two pairs of equal-length sides, but they are opposite to each other rather than adjacent.

ESOL

ESOL

In the first three weeks of studying ESOL I have learned many things in such a short period of time.
I learned how to identify the main Idea in a paragraph or a text. We also learned how to write a short
response. Even though I’m improving my english, I think I need to do some work on my writing for
it to improve. I also need to improve my formal speaking and writing. Things that I'm worried about
in ESOL is the coming formal conversation with my teacher.

ESOL Short Reading Response

How do I write a
short reading response???

Use these guidelines if you are stuck! You shouldn’t use the same sentence starters every time though!

Information about the text

Title of Book: Matariki
Author: Waitangi
Genre/Text Type: information text
Date Read: 19/02/20

One paragraph about the basic details of the text

This text was about a group of seven stars called Matariki. It is also the name for the Maori New Year.
These groups of stars can be seen most of the year but disappear at night in New Zealand in late April.
Matariki has other names, one of them is Seven Sisters. People say that the brightest among the seven
stars is the eldest sister that guides her younger sisters in the sky. The old story tells that when stars
shine brightly the year good crops will grow and lots of seafood to catch. I chose to read this text
because I’ve seen these stars before and I wanted to know the old story about them.

One Paragraphs about interesting details

One interesting feature was that old folks believe when the stars shine bright it can give them good corps
and lots of fish to catch. This is a belief and that people would celebrate Matariki in lots of ways .This
means that people value the old traditions. This relates to  me because some filipino traditions have been
celebrated now and then.
A paragraph discussing links between the text and yourself, the world or other texts

I can relate to the main character’s  because even though Matariki is an old tradition some people manage
to keep it in the present. The character reminds me of people back in the Philippines we valued the old
traditions that the old folks  have left for us to continue.

Trip to Willowbank

4th of June, me and my fellow students went to willow bank. We got in the bus at 8:50, it'll take us 20 minutes in order to get there. While we were at the bus me and my mates started making jokes about a filo meme, we also sang and made funny faces. After 20 minutes we arrived to our destination which is willow bank. After we arrived we separated in 3 groups and our teacher gave us 2 packets of food of animals. The teacher also told us not to feed the animals that has caution that visitors like us shouldn't feed them. At the start we got 20 minutes free time to walk around the reserve, and we got told to meet at the same place we separated from after 20 minutes to go to the Kea's . Me and my group spent our 20 minutes looking at the kiwi's and other birds. After our time ran out, we went to the place where me the other 2 groups supposed to meet and went to the room of kea's.

Advice to Year 10 students

Advice to Year 10 students

As a senior student who is currently studying NCEA level 1, there are few thing that i would like to advice for those people that are gonna be doing level 1 next year. It's not gonna be easy to some people, don't lose hope for failing some credits and try your best to pass. To people who are confident in passing level  1 don't slack even though u know you're passing because you never know whats gonna happen. If you've passed level 1 try and still get the remaining credits that you could get. Level 1 is gonna be easy if you just do the works that the teacher has given to you.

Kobe Bryant's death

Kobe Bryant was a professional american basketball player since he was 18 years old. He achieved
and received lots of rewards like 5 NBA championships and two NBA finals mvp and many more .
Kobe retired at the age of 34 years old, he played 20 seasons as professional basketball player for
Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe has given himself the nickname “Black Mamba”.

Kobe was killed in a helicopter crash along with her 13 years old daughter Gianna Bryant in Calabasa,
California last January 20, 2020. I am interested in this news because I have been playing basketball
since I was kid and always looked up to Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan. He was such an inspiration
to lots of basketball players like me.

Kobe Bryant “Black Mamba”, made an impact and difference to the world especially to women’s
basketball organisation. He also inspired many youths to play basketball by starting the Mamba
Academy where he would train amateur athletes. Kobe’s death affected many people such as his family,
NBA and all the people that he helped.

Kobe Bryant’s death made me think about how short life is and that we should grab every opportunity
that comes to our life. We should do the things that make us happy because we never know when we
are going to die. It also made me think that we should always show our love to our family and friends
while we’re still around.

Mining is more important than the environment

Mining is more important than the environment

I strongly disagree because i believe that we should take care of our nature,
because these is where we live.
Abusing the nature isn’t right because it can affect a lot of things like pollution,
because if there isn’t  enough tree to clean and to make the air nice and fresh it’ll make our climate hotter than before.
It can affect our ozone layer it will make it more thinner and because of lack of fresh air that we breathe in we can get sick because of it .
Other thing is  because of lack of trees,
some trees cant consumed too much water that comes from the rain because of this it can cause flood and landslide,
it can affect the people who lived to the place that flood and to the place that there’s a landslide.
The other reason that we should take care of out mother nature is because of the animals,
it can affect them because we’re destroying their home,
and if that happens a lot of animals might die because they don’t have an habitat to live in.
These are the few reason for us to take care our nature.

There should be no license or restriction on hunting

There should be no license or restrictions on hunting?.
I don’t agree to this because if there’s no license or restriction on hunting, the people are gonna be greedy and kill the animals they want.
Because of this the population of animals will immediately decrease due to the people who hunt everyday to feed their family, some people hunt and kill animals  to sell the animal’s meat , skin, horn, feathers etc.
If there’s no license on hunting the endangered species will be completely gone and the other animals will be endangered.
I believe that we should maintain and increase the population of endangered animals for the next generation so they can see the beauty of these animals, so removing the license and restrictions on hunting ain’t a good idea.
Making a mistake can affect a lot of things.
